TRESCIMO Smart Home demonstration was a success at SATNAC 2014
From the 31st of August 2014 to the 3rd of September 2014, TRESCIMO was at the Southern African Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC), the continent’s leading ICT conference where Industry, Academia and Operators converge.
At the UCT/TUB booth, we demonstrated an Energy Management Smart Home Application involving a use case where an end user may check the state of devices such as a geyser or celling fan, in their home. The user is then able to manage devices, according to his requirements from a remote location. To showcase the flexibility and scalability of the reference platform used, we implemented one physical gateway and one virtual gateway.
As part of the demo, a poster (link to poster) the smart home application, the topology diagram of the demo set-up and a topology diagram incorporating the demonstration as part of our smart city testbed .
Our booth was visited by hundreds of delegates, who were generally impressed with the flexibility and functionality of both the application and the Fraunhofer openMTC platform.
