TRESCIMO presentation at UMICTA 2014
The first International Conference on the use of Mobile Informations and Communication Technology (ICT) in Africa (UMICTA 2014), was held on 9-10 December 2014, at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. UMICTA 2014 was co-organised by Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Makerere University (Uganda).
Thomas Magedanz gave the Keynote Talk titled “M2M/IOT: Key Enablers for ecient Smart Cities Status Quo and Ways Forward.” This talk looks big mega trends for ICT evolution, connectivity & convergence which represent one of the most important drivers for the implementation of Smart Cities and the related application domains, such as SmartEnergy, SmartHome, eHealth and eMobility.
Additionally, Joyce Mwangama presented a paper which forms part of the TRESCIMO project titled “An OpenMTC platform-based interconnected European – South African M2M Testbed for Smart City Services” The paper goes into some details about the testbeds planned during the TRESCIMO implementation.
